It’s been only seven days since I joined the team at Zest Digital, but I feel so settled and welcome that it already feels like I’ve been here for months. Cheesy, I know, but true!
Getting to know the awesome team (family is probably a better word) and acquainting myself with the goals and ambitions of our fab clients has meant that the days are just flying by. But how did I end up here?
I guess the path to Zest Digital started way back at my secondary school’s Creative Writing society. There I discovered my love for English, collaborating with others on projects and familiarising myself with the art of constructive criticism. (Taking as well as giving!)
This all lead to me studying English Literature and Creative Writing at the University of Kent, which I eventually left in 2010, with an MA in the latter.
After graduating I took a retail job at one of my favourite high street fashion stores in my hometown of Horsham. I also spent time exploring career options; over the next few years I gained experience in Journalism, Software QA Testing, Events, and SEO, to mention just a few. All this gave me a clearer picture of what I enjoyed doing.
In 2014 I relocated to Oxford, and within a couple of weeks I found a job with a burgeoning digital marketing agency; a job that finally fit!
The combination of creativity and analytical evaluation really struck a chord with me and I suddenly found a love for pouring over data, examining the human journeys represented in the numbers. Combined with my excellent customer experience gained from my time in retail, I knew I’d finally struck gold.
Being a small team, there was a real focus on doing everything to an exceptionally high standard, and I was very lucky to benefit from the experience and training provided by some really talented experts.
After a couple of years it felt like time for a change of scenery, and after spotting a vacancy at Zest, a fire lit underneath me; this was a company that I just HAD to be part of. The rest, as they say, is (relatively recent) history!
Outside of work, I have a love for everything geeky (Star Wars is a biggy) and enjoy exploring new parts of Oxfordshire at the weekends with my girlfriend.
I’m a big fan of live music and make the most of being only a short bus ride from the O2 Academy. Living walking distance from a cinema is also a bonus! Being a very amateur guitar player, I’m also currently on the lookout for a forgiving open mic night to inflict myself upon…
So that’s a potted history of me! I’m really excited to have started my next adventure in digital marketing with the Oxford-based Zest Digital family and can’t wait to see what the coming months have in store.
